Coffee shops have become the most common gastronomic concept of catering establishments on the first floors of business-class residential complexes in St. Petersburg – they occupy 35% of such areas, according to a study by NF Group.
Over the past six months, restaurants and cafes have reduced their presence by five percentage points—they account for 33% of the total catering supply. Another 25% are occupied by bakeries – their share increased by seven percentage points due to a large number of openings. The most unpopular formats are bars and fast food.
Experts note that the leadership of coffee shops among formats is observed exclusively in business-class residential complexes – in luxury residential complexes they occupy only 8% of all catering formats, and on the main shopping streets of the city – 5%.
