How to make a drywall ceiling ourselves

If you yourself are engaged in the repair of your apartment and want to make a gypsum cardboard ceiling yourself, then this material will help you in such a difficult business. To create complex designs, you must learn to make a simple and even plasterboard ceiling.

First, it is necessary to determine which frame should be made to fix drywall plates. The choice is usually provided with a frame of metal profiles with galvanizing or a wooden frame. When choosing a material for the frame, they are guided by two main criteria, firstly, the wooden one will cost much cheaper than the metal, and the choice of such a frame depends on the material capabilities of the buyer, and secondly, when choosing the material, always remember what height the ceiling will be lowered. If for your frame you have chosen a metal galvanized profile, then keep in mind that the profile can be of two types. The main working profile with CD labeling and starting UD. In addition to the main material, components are also needed, such as crab (four -sided fasteners), it is necessary to create a cell, that is, to connect profiles with each other. To fix the cd profile to the ceiling of the room, you will need a quick suspension or earring (fasteners in the form of the letter P).

First you need to find and mark, using the hydraulicarian, the points on which, in the future, the initial ceiling profile will be fixed. The direction of the main working profile will depend on it and therefore this profile will be passing throughout the perimeter of the structure. After fixing the starting profile, you need to dial a working frame, which is a cell with dimensions of 600 – 600 mm. It is important to consider that the drywall sheet has its size. Its width is 1200 mm and length 2500 mm. In order not to have problems with drywall, make the last cell more than 100 mm. The distances indicated here are measured to the middle of the profile. You need to start marking from the side of the wall, from which the laying of drywall will occur. In order for a small amount of microcracks to form in the putty, it is necessary to lay the sheets in a checkerboard pattern. Between the fasteners the distance should not exceed 500 mm. This is necessary for a more durable fastening of the profile to the overlap.

After assembling the frame, the electric circuit is installed to the points at which lighting lights are located. For the safety of the electrical wiring, it is laid in a special corrugated sleeve made of metal -plastic, insulated compounds are not allowed. After installation of the wiring, sheets of drywall are sequentially fixed. To decorate the ceilings, as a rule, drywall with a thickness of 9 mm is used, it is permissible to use sheets 12.5 mm thick.

In rooms with high humidity, it is necessary to use moisture -resistant drywall, different from the usual color and painted greenish.
